Online Learning Update to Parents

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you to update you on the progress of the online learning portal and to thank all of you whose children have been active on it for your patience and understanding while we sort out the inevitable small problems that may occur.

I am delighted to report that our analysis of the online activity of the students indicates that 90% of the school is engaged with the program. I am delighted by such a positive reaction from the students and you as parents.

Let me explain some of our current restrictions in operating this new technique of delivering the curriculum to our students as well as our plans for the future.

  1. Despite some relaxation of the lockdown rules in selected states we, here in Kwara, are still only allowed to travel within the state on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. This does mean that some teachers are having to prepare their work for the students from their homes and without access to the school ICT department.
  2. The teaching staff are all working very hard to adapt to the new techniques and I would ask that you are understanding if some things are not perfect to begin with.
  3. In order to ensure a consistent approach from all the teachers we are holding back on developing new, more interactive strategies until the entire staff are comfortable with them.
  4. The editing of the subjects for the students is an on-going process and must be done for each student at a time so please bear with this until it is completed. Students should ignore any subjects that are not relevant to them in the meantime.
  5. The technical staff and ICT experts are now available for consultation between the hours of 9.00 am and 12.00 Noon, Monday to Friday and can be contacted on either of the school phone numbers or by emailing Mr Taiwo at tosintaiwo2226@gmail.com please copy me into any emails sent so that I can ensure you get the required response.
  6. I will be recording an Assembly style speech for the students and parents which will be sent out by email and posted on the Website for Monday. This will then happen every week so I can update you all on our progress and any new news.
  7. To give you all a bit more time to get used to the system I am extending the payment deadline for the first month to Friday 15th May – I hope you have all seen the Proprietor’s letter sent by the PTA Executive yesterday.

As I am sure you can imagine this is a steep learning curve for us all but I hope that the fruits of our labour will be abundant when the time comes to assess the whole situation again. We will continue to work on the curriculum delivery style and add more interactive methods as we progress.

I would like to thank the members of the ICT department for their excellent efforts in getting us going with the online learning, the staff for their continued hard work to deliver a first class education to your children, the PTA Executive members for their help and support, the students for the work they have already completed and are yet to do and finally to you parents for keeping your faith in TAICO as we move forward.

Last of all let me assure you of our determination to provide the highest quality online learning experience available and to make sure that we carry you all along with us as it develops and evolves over the course of time.

As always I am delighted to respond to your emails if you need clarification on any of the points raised or any new issues that occur to you.

Please stay safe, protect your families and follow the guidelines of your home state during lockdown.

Yours sincerely

Mr Brad
